Celebrate Mother’s Day weekend with an event that can change the lives of mothers in West Africa!

This year is Mercy Ships Canada’s first official Mercy for Mothers in May event.  What exactly IS Mercy for Mothers in May?

It is an exciting way to get together with friends, family, fellow workers, students, and others to raise awareness of women’s health projects provided by Mercy Ships. It gives you the opportunity to create change by hosting a small (or big!) event on Mother’s Day weekend 2012.

Mercy Ships would like to do more to lower the alarming statistics associated with deaths and injuries during childbirth for women of West Africa.  These statistics reveal that a woman living in sub-Saharan Africa has a 1-in-16 chance of dying in pregnancy, compared to a 1-in-5,000 risk for a woman in Canada.

Way to go team! Yesterday we all successfully completed the TC10K. Each and every one of us had races we are very proud of. Some first timers, and a few personal bests! Missing from these photos is Nikki Bhalla, our lovely first-time racer that popped home to get ready for work before our celebratory brunch, and Wendy Bryan. And missing from the top two photos is my sister Kathleen Hull who come out from Alberta to proudly represent in pink.

It was a fun day and a great chance to support such important causes. Thank you all for your support Though our quads may ache a little today, we are here and excited to help you find the dress of your dreams…
